The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Duramax Diesel Can Tow Up to 35,500 Pounds With 910 LB-FT of Torque

Chevy has finally revealed the full lineup of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD,which is now available with a 6.6-liter Duramax turb-diesel V8 with 910 lb-ft of torque and capable of towing a max payload of 35,500 pounds.

That 35,500 pound tow rating is a 52 percent improvement over the outgoing truck, according to Chevrolet via Autoblog, and its thanks to a slew of changes made to the Duramax engine and the rest of the truck.

The ladder frame is stiffer, the prop shaft and axles are larger, and there’s a handy label specifying curb weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross axle weight rating, max payload, and a few other specifications tailored to each truck based on its VIN. The trucks are also all longer, wider and taller with more interior space.

If you don’t go for the 445 horsepower, 910 lb-ft of torque turbo-diesel, which is matched with an all-new 10-speed automatic, there’s also a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, which produces 401 HP and 464 lb-ft of torque, which is said to offer an 18 percent towing capacity gain over the outgoing model.
