Watch the 2020 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty Tow 225,000 Lbs:

What is the all-new 2020 GMC Sierra HD all about? How do you introduce the new truck to the world? GMC chose a boat yard and pulled a 225,000 lbs crane and boat with a 3500 HD dually. In this video, we take a very detailed look at the new truck and interview the chief engineer.

The new heavy duty is longer and taller than ever before. The 6.6L Duramax diesel V8 is still there, but it’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The new heavy duty truck will be able to tow “well in excess of 30,000 lbs”, according to GMC.

The company is not releasing the new chassis details, but the frame is updated to handle heavier payload and towing capacities. GMC also did not release precise payload or towing specifications. All of this information will be available at a future event.

The new truck is powered by the 6.6L turbo-diesel with a rating of 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a 10-speed Allison-branded automatic transmission. We do not yet have the details about the new gas V8 that will replace the 6.0L Vortec V8.
